El Calafate is one of the most visited destinations by tourists, mainly because of its proximity to the Los Glaciares National Park. Being one of the places most chosen by Argentines to travel with the Travel Salethis city of Santa Cruz is the starting point for all the excursions that go to the Perito Moreno Glacier.
From the city, they are some 80 kilometers until you reach the gate of the National Park. Restaurant, snack bar, toilets, parking, primary health care and photography services are some of the services in the park.
The entrance fee is $1,200 for adult residents of Argentina ($700 for minors). It can be obtained on this website. Some of the excursions that can be hired are:
1- Mini trek
It is one of the most complete excursions. The buses leave from El Calafate, they visit the catwalks for an hour and embarks in the Low Port of the Shadows. is navigated by 20 minutes in front of the south wall of the Perito Moreno glacier until reaching the base refuge area. 2- Big ice
It is a slightly more intense visit than the previous one. Participants are required to be in good athletic condition. Like the previous one, the bus leaves from El Calafate and includes a visit to the walkways of the park. I know sail for 20 minutes until reaching the refuge area, where the walk through the forest will begin.
Total walking time is 6:30 hours approximately, of which 3:30 hours are dedicated to the ice with crampons, where cracks, lagoons, streams, eventually caves can be seen. A picnic is held on the ice.

3- Dark Spirit
Is about one hour sailing on the north face of the glacier. It leaves from Puerto Moreno (inside the park) and is positioned in front of the sector where there are usually breaks. From there, start a slow navigation in front of the entire width of the north wall of the Perito Moreno glacier. It is done all year.

4- Safari Blue
The tour begins in El Calafate when the bus leaves for the Los Glaciares National Park. From the Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, a boat leaves to cross the Rico Lake. Then disembark and you walk about 30 minutes overlooking the southern wall of the glacier.

6- Alternative Tour
This tour has as first stop the Parador Rio Miterwhere you can get in touch with the animals and have some mates. Also enjoy views of the Valle del Brazo Sur and the Cordillera. Continue through the National Park, where you start with a walk downhill to the beach of the icebergs in the southern arm of Lake Argentino. After the trekking, we return to the traffic to visit the footbridges of the glacier.
