Many dream of getting on one at the same time that several automakers yearn to have the best and fastest. Speed is a niche for a few but of course, if you had a clear track with no traffic and the keys in your hand anyone would press the accelerator to the bottom.
The fastest stand out. Those who drove the Bugatti Chiron assure that it can achieve even higher speeds although the automaker explained that they are no longer interested in the speed record. Tuatara takes off, Hennessey Venom watches closely, and Koenigsegg wants to put up a fight. Beasts. Absolute machines. Dynamic and fast. The dream of speed lovers. These are the fastest cars in the world.
Shelby Supercars (SSC) was born in 1999 and settled in Washington, United States. Certified by Guinness World Records emissaries, test pilot Oliver Webb averaged 508 km/h on a closed section of Route 160 in Nevada when he climbed the mythical Tuatara. He did not use, they say, fuel or special tires and its 5.9-liter V8 biturbo engine allowed it to stay until today at the top of the ranking.
Second position for the French although many specialized media assure that the Chiron Super Sport can reach even higher speeds. It was test driver Andy Wallace who achieved these speeds on the Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany and established this car as one of the fastest in the world.
Third place is somewhat controversial. Hennesey Performance Engineering ensures that your Venom F5 has a top speed of 484 km/h although the company has yet to make it official. All the others on the list are certified by Guinness World Records, but this one in particular hasn’t gone through the rigors of testing yet. However, the automaker that specializes in sports cars for a large number of brands proudly raises the bronze medal.
As they did with the Tatuara, Koenigsegg closed a stretch of almost 20km on Route 160 and did the official test. Before witnesses, verifiers and with the endorsement of the Department of Transportation of Nevada, United States, the Agera RS recorded an average top speed of 447 km/h. Crazy.
Every time a speed test is done for Guinness, it is not a maximum reached but an average. That is, the car runs at maximum power in two different directions and then the average between both routes is established to certify the record. what happens with the Poison GT is that it reached in the Kennedy Space Center a speed of 434 km/h only in one direction, which is why Guinness does not consider it one of the fastest, but the spectators and users of this vehicle do.
A classic. One of the most named, remembered and recognized when it comes to speed. For many years – and before deciding not to chase these records again – Bugatti was synonymous with speed and his Veyron was witness to it. The Volkswagen Ehra-Lessein track was lent for a test where the aerodynamic design entered the Guinness record with its worthy 431km/h
The Croatian firm steps strong and closes the ranking of seven. The Concept Two is, however, a electric drive car that despite the differences deserves to be named: 415 km/h not everyone can do it. Only 150 models will be produced and it is estimated that the value will be close to a million dollars. Of course, with these data in hand, you can see some of these walking around the streets.
